Prishtina, 24 September 2013 - Despite the commitment of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, seasonal employment of Kosovars in the European Union has not proven promising, said Hafiz Leka, Chairman of the Division of Labor and Employment in this ministry.
In a conversation with KosovaLive, Leka as justification has placed the emphasis to Kosovo, which according to him has no agreement with any of the EU countries to develop any of the active employment measures such as mediation in employment, but also Kosovo still is not a member of the EU or signatory to any agreement with any of the states on cooperation in the field of employment.
“The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (MPMS) has already started cooperation with Switzerland and Liechtenstein in a field of performing practical work in agriculture”, said Leka.
According to him, direct mediation of seasonal employment of about 1,600 students of Kosovo was managed to be done last years, but twice that number has gone on their own after the first mediation, which according to Leka unfortunately this year have managed to go only 40 students, not 180 as planned.
