Prishtina, 9 January 2014 - Through higher energy bills, Kosovo citizens are paying the mismanagement of KEK and the energy sector in general, considers the Democratic League of Kosovo (Lidhja Demokratike e Kosovës – LDK).
In a press release, LDK called for urgent measures to alleviate the burden on citizens because according to them, at this time, income is dropping while poverty is increasing. LDK has also called for urgent application of measures proposed by the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on Energy Bills.
“For years now, the losses of energy in the network are not being reduced, and building of new production capacities has lagged, while last year’s citizens’ protests have not raised the awareness of those responsible. Government, KEK, and the Energy Regulatory Office took no action in spite of the creation of a Parliamentary Inquiry Committee for electricity bills, initiated by the LDK, which issued a report with concrete recommendations”, the press release concludes..
