Prishtina, 24 March 2014 – Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Jakup Krasniqi has responded to the public call made, Sunday by the Organization of Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans, for the parliament to speed up the adoption of the Law on War Veterans. The call was made after the meeting of the Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi with the head of this organization, Muharrem Xhemajli.
“We consider that there is no justification for the further postponement of this draft-law, given the 14 years waiting of the veterans. Veterans who today are in a miserable economic-social situation, which caused big consequences in the psychological, social and other aspects, expect that legislators finally take care of them, too”, says this organization in a public call addressed to Presidency of the Assembly of Kosovo and its speaker Jakup Krasniqi.
In a response, posted on Facebook, Krasniqi say to the veterans that the Assembly is not to blame for the delays, and that they should not be fooled these days when Prime Minister Thaçi is on an election campaign.
“I don’t understand why people want to be deceived 101 times during a day. …Neither I nor the Assembly is to blame for this law not be adopted”, Krasniqi says adding that PM Thaçi never thought of this issue in the last six years, but only now when he needs the votes.
