Prishtina, 3 January 2013 – Although Kosovo formally during 2013 continued the positive trend of economic growth, about 3 %, this was insufficient to affect the reduction of poverty and unemployment, which remain very high.

According to the World Bank in Kosovo, with Gross Domestic Product per capita of around 2,800 euros, Kosovo remains one of the poorest countries in Europe and with average income about one tenth of the average EU per capita.

Statistical Agency of Kosovo claims that the unemployment rate in Kosovo has decreased by 35% in the first half of 2012 to 30.9% at the end of 2012. On the other hand, economic affairs experts and representatives of civil society consider that this is unrealistic because of no such economic development to the extent that would reduce the unemployment rate.
