Prishtina, 25 March 2014 – Even though it was expected that officials of the Kosovo government will have meeting with the representatives of the international Monetary Fund (IMF) in April, the decision of the Government for a 25% increase of salaries, seems to have accelerated the date of the meeting.
Allegedly, the IMF staff will arrive in Kosovo Tuesday, and continue its visit until March 28th. This is confirmed by the agenda of the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo Jakup Krasniqi, who will be meeting the IMF representatives today.
The sum of 45 million Europe, under the budget projections, was planned for the increase of salaries (27 mil. €) and for the implementation of the reform of the civil service (18 mil. €), but IMF has expressed its concern that this reform, that was launched in 2010, will not be able to be implemented due to the lack of funds.
