Prishtina, 3 January 2014 – Foreign direct investment in Kosovo during 2013 have fallen to the lowest level since 2005 up to 4.3% of gross domestic product. Recent Kosovo Progress report said that this decrease is not due to the European economic crisis, as government officials justified, but is mainly concerned with weak legal system in Kosovo.

Walkout of foreign investors is one of the heaviest strikes that our country took especially after the declaration of independence of Kosovo, because Kosovo in 2007 had foreign direct investment worth over 440 million euros, while in 2012 there were about 200 million euros.

According to the report, even with foreign investment, half of them go into real estate and construction, 12% go to other financial services, and only 13% in production sectors.
