Prishtina, 20 August, 2013 – Family members of the missing persons will address the Security Council of the United Nations with a written request in which they will raise their concern with the fate of their family members so that the issue of missing persons be treated more seriously by the international community.
This was announced at a meeting of the Joint Organizational Council that will mark August 30 – The International Day of Missing Persons.
Bajram Qerkini, one of the family members of the missing persons, said that the letter will be delivered to Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi and Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj to be read at the Security Council, in order to put pressure on Serbian authorities to resolve the issue of missing once and for all. Gjetaj stressed that even 14 years after the war the bodies of 1.730 missing persons are still not found.
