Prishtina, 23 April 2014 – Assembly of Kosovo on its plenary session, today, discusses on the extension of the mandate of the European Union Mission for Rule and Law – EULEX and the creation of the special court that would deal with the war crimes allegations in Kosovo.
Government of Kosovo has adopted, yesterday the Draft-law of the agreement of Kosovo with the European Union, based on the exchange of letter between the President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga and EU High Representatives Baroness Catherine Ashton, regarding the extension of the mandate of EULEX and the need for the establishment of a special war crime court. The Draft-law, that has been proceeded to the Assembly of Kosovo. Open up officially the path toward the creation of the court and extension of EULEX mission.
At least 80 votes in favor by the members of the parliament are needed for the adoption of the initiative for the creation of special war crimes court. Representatives of local political parties regard this act as one of the most difficult decision taken by the Assembly of Kosovo in the recent years.
