Prishtina, 3 October 2013 – Extraordinary session of the Assembly of Kosovo on establishment of a investigating parliamentary committee for the privatization of 75 percent of the shares of PTK, was held on Thursday without MPs of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (Partia Demokratike e Kosovës – PDK). This has caused dissatisfaction among members of opposition parties because in the absence of a quorum, the committee, although established, could not be voted, but remained to be completed later with members from majority.
The session was called by 40 signatory members of two parliamentary groups – Democratic League of Kosovo (Lidhja Demokratike e Kosovës- LDK) and Self-Determination Movement (Lëvizje Vetëvendosje!), and other MPs, including chairman Jakup Krasniqi, but gathered only 57 MPs and voting of the committee was postponed for the next session.
Head of the Parliamentary Group of the LDK, Ismet Beqiri said they had called for the establishment of an inquiry committee in this session for the privatization of 75 percent of the shares of PTK, which will investigate the legal grounds of the decision on privatization and procedures in this privatization, closing with the approval in parliament.
