A KFOR soldier is confirmed dead following a single vehicle road traffic accident in the North of Kosovo at approximately 1:00 p.m. today. Five (5) other KFOR personnel were also injured in the accident and have been transferred to a hospital.
According to a press release from KFOR, no other military vehicles were involved in the accident and it also appears at this time that no civilian vehicles were involved.
The soldiers were returning to their headquarters as part of routine troop movements when the accident occurred.
The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by international military police in cooperation with the local and international authorities.
Commander of KFOR, Maj. Gen. Salvatore Farina, expressed his condolences to the soldier’s family and to his colleagues.
